{ Dallas Shaw at Home- seating Pt.1 }

As promised , a look into my living room(s). This year I was tasked with decorating not one, but two spaces- as you now I also have an apartment in Nashville, TN. I’ll show you what I’ve done with both so far. Although both are always a work in progress I’m very pleased with what each space it looking like so far.

If you read my book, The Way She Wears It,  than you know I believe in design you can really live with and that everything around you should feel like “you”.

I started with a moodboard of colors that I wanted to surround myself in and made me feel most relaxed. I found that I really like rooms filled with a mix of light warms colors or moody dark spaces. I don’t fit anywhere in between really. People that paint your walls turquoise- this post ain’t for you.

 For my living area #1, I decided on white walls, cream shades and neutrals with texture. And then I added color and the special touches. Let me walk you through my process.

I started with the couch. I knew I wanted a caramel leather couch and one that would be comfy and wear well. I found I was gravitating most to the styles with character so I wanted one that looked slightly worn, or one that could look slightly worn as years go by. I ended up with the Nirvana sofa from Article. And I’m thrilled with my choice as you know from instagram. It’s base is modern, but the cushions are big, comfy and have sink-in factor that most modern leather couches don’t. The soft texture was unexpected and the COLOR is pure magic. This couch doesn’t disappoint so if you are on the leather couch hunt this is one you’ll want to check out.

Some other favorites of mine from article include this Worthington Black Oxford armchair (I’ve been obsessing over it for months, just trying to find the perfect place), the sol daybed , and this sheepshin throw, which I’d layer over either one of those babies. I’ll make sure to pin all for you here.

I decided to pair that couch with these knot back chairs from McGuire. Truth be told I originally was looking at an angular brass pairing of chairs and they just didn’t feel livable to me. They looked perfect in the space but also uppity and uncomfortable and I wanted a space that makes people want to sit and stay a while and the knot back lounge chairs felt like the perfect pairing of design and comfort.

I saw these knot back chair on the cover of Elle Décor a while ago and had been eyeing them since. I selected them because of where they are placed in my house you see the backs first and they really shine in a space where you can see the whole chair. I picked this colorway as a compliment to the couch but the darker shade is also stunning.

I’m a new fan of McGuire. This is my first piece of theirs and I found their selection to be true to my style. Here are a few pieces that I’m currently still eyeing from McGuire: The folde sofa , I’m always looking for a nice loveseat for the office and this is casual. You know I love a floppy pillow so if you give me that plus rattan I’m sold. The Nozimu Lounge, which I think could be so killer in a nursery. Oh and these counter stools If you’ve ever searched for a bar stool you know how insanely hard it is to find a good one. This one comes in two heights too.

Ok so we now know about my seating obsessions. I’ll pin all for you today for your decorating records :)
